09 Oct 2017 Texas Pipe Show Huge Success
We closed down the 1st annual all-Texas pipe show with a few dwindling conversations at the after-show-show at Angelo’s BBQ on the night of the 7th with good wishes and a commitment to make the 2018 show even better. From a fierce competition towards the end of the slow smoke to over $600 raised to help hurricane relief on the Texas coast to see friends new and old the show was a great success with an approximate turn out of 150 people over the course of the day.
Slow Smoke Winners:
1st – Wes Brown, Austin Pipe Club Secretary: 47:15
2nd – Stephen Rast, Tobacco Cabana Co-Owner: 45:52
3rd – Joeseph Malencon, Houston Pipe Club: 41:12
We have to thank our sponsors who helped out the clubs immensely:
Pop’s Safari Room – thanks for the location and willingness to work with us to make this show a great success.
Missouri Meerschaum – the donation of custom cobs for the slow smoke was awesome, and labeling them made them that much more special.
To This Pipe Life/STG Lane – your donation to the clubs will allow us to make the show better next year, and we really enjoyed having you there providing great tobacco to smoke on location (which is harder to come by these days).
Steve Fallon – for your donations to the charity raffle, and continued commitment to the Texas Pipe Club community.
Dagner Pipes – thanks so much for your sponsoring the raffle and slow smoke, you were well represented at the show and your swag was coveted.
Pat Higgins – sending us a custom pipe used for the slow smoke that was ogled by all. We hope you can come down to the show next year.
Country Squire and CSR – Thanks so much for coming, running some announcements, blending the official blend “Texas Tea” that everyone asks to be made all the time….
Savinelli and C&D – for the slow smoke contest pipe and tobacco.
Gentleman Jim – for lots of beard oil for our bearded brothers.
Briar Blues – thanks so much for sending some great items for the charity raffle.
Rik Ruff – For doing the logo and some awesome Texas tampers. About that 2018 logo… 🙂
The Texas Clubs:
All the Texas clubs – Lonestar Pipe Club, North Texas Briar Club, Waco Pipe Club, Austin Pipe Club, and the Houston Pipe Club – thanks for coming out and making this show a success. A pipe show measures its success by the people who show up and help out and we had great people. We look forward to another year of a healthy slow-smoke competition, and next year expect a club trophy to be presented to the club that wins the slow smoke.
